Account Manager

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Account Manager is responsible for executing marketing and PR activities for assigned clients and additional leadership duties for process improvement, administration, and training junior staff. The Account Manager has a proven expertise in a specific tactical area and is tasked with increasing autonomy as it relates to client interactions. The executive management team offers general supervision to the Account Manager but the Account Director serves as his or her direct supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of four to five years of proven experience with at least three of those years in an agency setting
  • Knowledge of basic public and social media relations, marketing, and advertising with solid research, writing, and editing skills
  • Has demonstrated a tactical expertise in one of the following areas: media relations, online/digital media, copywriting, creative, strategic planning, marketing, process development, or account leadership
  • Must be organized, proactive, resourceful, forward-thinking, and comfortable creating and delivering ideas and suggestions both internally and externally
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize a heavy and diverse workload while working with multiple client contacts across a broad spectrum of departments within an organization
  • Contribute to staff development by encouraging, mentoring and leading junior staff in either process or client-related work

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute tactics for Bohlsen Group accounts in demonstrated specialty area
  • Write PR and social media materials, including press releases, pitches, content calendars, and other materials
  • Contribute to vision for measurable objectives for each client
  • Adhere and contribute to the development of operational processes that help specific company or client initiatives
  • Present strategic ideas to team for consideration on behalf of client
  • Participate in client meetings and conference calls with account executives as needed
  • Coordinate with account executives to effectively translate strategy into execution while incorporating client key message and branding
  • Equip and educate account executives on activities and results so that he or she can effectively communicate accomplishments and issues to the client
  • Mobilize company resources, including tools and staff, to accomplish objectives and execute strategies
  • Participate as part of a team or an individual tactical lead, as necessitated by the unique needs of each client account

ADDITIONAL SKILLS, VARYING BY TACTICAL AREA:

  • Developing PR, social and online/digital media creative briefs, campaigns, and timelines
  • Creating PR and social media distribution lists
  • Pitching client stories to local and national media
  • Coordinating media interviews and guest articles for clients
  • Leading brainstorm sessions and CEs with staff
  • Developing and implementing social media content for client accounts
  • Developing and implementing digital campaigns for client accounts
  • Producing videography or photography for client projects
  • Conducting monthly client activity reporting
  • Compiling PR, social and digital/online media results for clients
  • Conducting grassroots outreach and conducting partnerships for assigned client accounts

GENERAL AGENCY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead brainstorm sessions and CEs with staff
  • Participate in various team meetings on a regular basis to assess and contribute
  • Stay up to date on industry trends in order to share with management and recommend improvements and updates to service lines
  • Contribute to the writing of blogs, case studies, and other agency materials for the Bohlsen Group website and social media outreach
  • Uphold Bohlsen Group’s commitment to socially responsible and environmentally sustainable business by participating in company-wide recycling and voluntary health and wellness programs, if desired

Corporate & Nonprofit PR/Marketing (Fall 2019)

Fall 2019 Submission Deadline: Friday, June 14, 2019

QUALIFICATIONS:

Current enrollment in/recent graduation from a college or university, grasp of basic public relations and social media with a strong interest in research, writing and editing. Must be passionate, driven and excited to learn all aspects of the industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Professional development – 70%

  • Assist staff in writing materials such as press releases, strategy documents, pitching plans, pitches, etc.
  • Contribute to the Bohlsen Group blog
  • Observe/participate in client meetings, brainstorming sessions and conference calls as needed
  • Research and compile media distribution lists
  • Develop and foster blogger relations
  • Create social media content calendars and engage in social media on behalf of clients
  • Research trade publications, podcasts, niche blogs and special event opportunities
  • Track media hits and report results
  • Complete Internship Capstone Project

Administrative duties – 30%

  • Assist business manager in greeting guests, answering phones in a courteous and professional manner and carrying out general office operations as needed
  • Coordinate daily mailings

Interns report to the Corporate and Nonprofit internship coordinator.

Design Intern (Fall 2019-Spring 2020)

Fall 2019-Spring 2020 Submission Deadline: Friday, June 14, 2019

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current enrollment in/recent graduation from a college or university
  • Grasp of basic creative design concepts with a strong working knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.
  • Must be passionate, driven and excited to learn all aspects of the industry.
  • Ideal candidates have experience with meme and animated GIF creation. Web design, video editing and social media experience are a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Professional development – 70%

  • Assist staff in concepting and designing various materials such as brochures, playbills, strategic plans, etc.
  • Contribute to the Bohlsen Group blog
  • Observe/participate in client meetings, brainstorming sessions and conference calls as needed
  • Concept and design various elements of client advertising campaigns
  • Participate in the creation of unified marketing campaigns for clients by participating in team meetings, coordinating logistics and/or creating necessary design pieces, such as street level promotional items
  • Complete Internship Capstone Project
  • Follow direction and meet fluid deadlines while working in a team setting

Administrative duties – 30%

  • Assist office coordinator in greeting guests, answering phones in a courteous and professional manner and carrying out general office operations as needed
  • Coordinate daily mailings
  • Interns report to the Corporate and Nonprofit internship coordinator.

Events & Entertainment PR/Marketing (Fall 2019)

Current enrollment in/recent graduation from a college or university, grasp of basic public relations and social media with a strong interest in research, writing and editing. Must be passionate, driven and excited to learn all aspects of the industry with an emphasis on events and entertainment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Professional development – 75%

  • Assist staff in writing materials such as press releases, strategy documents, pitching plans, pitches, etc.
  • Observe/participate in client meetings, brainstorming sessions and conference calls
  • Research and compile media distribution lists
  • Develop and foster blogger relations
  • Assistance with market research and media outreach
  • Assistance with gathering of press materials from artist management/publicity personnel
  • Engage in social media on behalf of Bohlsen Group and clients
  • Participate in street promotion efforts

Administrative duties – 25%

  • Assist with street promotion organization
  • Assist reception with general office operations as needed

Grassroots Marketing Team (Street Team)

Deadline: This is a year round opportunity

What you’ll do:

  • Deliver printed promotional materials to predetermined list of permission based retail locations
  • Take photos of displayed materials, etc.
  • Document date and time of deliveries, and report to team leader
  • Help with e-marketing through social media
  • Identify new locations for promotional materials and new ways to spread the word about events


What you need:

You will need regular access to a computer/cell phone/camera, personal reliability and to be 18 years of age or older. We’ll work with your university for credit or work-study. (As needed)
